What new contractors tell us on the first call

New owners describe the same four problems. None of them is about being new at the trade. All of them are about being new to the people searching for it.

I just got my licence and nobody knows we exist.

Search ads can show the day the account is live. Reviews and a map ranking take months, so we start with the channel that does not need a history.

I don't have a website, just a Facebook page.

A Facebook page cannot hold a landing page or call tracking for Google Ads. The $700 website gives the ads somewhere to land that you own.

Someone quoted me $5,000 for a website before I have booked a job.

We build it for $700, SEO optimized and fast loading, and hosting is free while we run your ads.

I made a Google Business Profile and it never shows up.

A new profile has no reviews and no history. It is built and verified first, then left to earn reviews while the ads bring in the first jobs.

The order

What gets built first, and why

The order matters more than any single piece. A profile waits on Google's verification, the ads need a page to land on, and Local Services Ads wait on Google's screening. Started in the right order, nothing sits idle waiting for something else.

Google Business Profile, $200

Built and submitted for verification first, because verification is the step you cannot hurry.

Website, $700

A page per service, call and form tracking, and local schema, SEO optimized and fast loading.

Google Ads setup, $750

Business and competitor analysis, keyword research, conversion tracking, the campaign build and a landing page for each campaign.

Google Ads goes live

Search ads do not need reviews to show, so the first calls come from here.

Local Services Ads setup, $300

Profile, job types and service area, and the paperwork for Google's screening, where your trade is listed.

The numbers

Everything a new business pays us, line by line

Starter packages bundle a website, a profile and ads into one round number, which makes it hard to see what each piece costs or to skip the one you already have. Here is ours, itemized.

Before you sign

The ad budget a new business needs

Google Ads management needs at least $2,500 a month in ad spend, paid to Google directly. Below that, the account sees too few clicks to show which searches book jobs, and our fee becomes most of what you spend.

If $2,500 a month is not there yet, start with the website and the Google Business Profile, $900 together, and add the ads when the budget is ready. We would rather tell you that on the first call than in month three.

Under $2,500 a monthStart with the foundation

Website and Google Business Profile, $900 together. Ads when the budget is ready.

$2,500 to $10,000 a monthThe full start

$1,950 to set up, then $795 a month for Google Ads, or $995 with Local Services Ads.

Above $10,000 a monthUnusual for a new business

The fee becomes 10% of ad spend, with Local Services Ads included.

Ownership

Everything is in your name from the first day

A new business is the easiest one to lock in, because it has nothing to compare against. We do the opposite. The domain, the website, the Google Business Profile and every ad account are opened in the owner's name, and if you leave, you keep all of it.

What this page does not claim

No promise of a number of calls in your first month, because that depends on your trade, your market and your budget. No claim that a new profile will rank in the map pack by a date. We will show you the search volume for your trade and area on the first call instead.

What gets built

The eight pieces a new business needs

A business starting from zero needs eight things in place before the first paid click is worth buying. These are the pieces, and what each one is for.

A page per service

The website lists each job you take on its own page, so a search and a page match.

Fast on a phone

Most local searches happen on a phone, so the site is built to load quickly there.

Call and form tracking

Every call and form tracked from the first day, so the first month of ads teaches something.

Google Business Profile categories

The primary category and services set to the work you actually do.

Service area

Drawn to where you will drive, in the profile, the ads and Local Services Ads alike.

Campaigns by job

Google Ads split by the jobs you want, each with its own budget and keywords.

A landing page per campaign

Built during the setup, so the click lands on the job it searched for.

Local Services Ads profile

Job types, service area and the paperwork for Google's screening, where your trade is listed.

Before you sign anything

Four things worth walking away from

A starter package with no line items

If you cannot see what each piece costs, you cannot skip the one you already have.

A website you rent instead of own

Monthly website plans that keep the site if you leave turn your first marketing spend into a lease.

An ad account in the agency's name

Your first year of call and conversion history is worth more than the site. It should be yours.

Ads before tracking

Without call and form tracking from the first day, the first month of spend teaches nothing.

Local Services Ads for a new business: the screening comes first

Google screens a business before its Local Services Ads run, and the checks depend on the trade and the state: business registration, licences, insurance and background checks. For $300 we set up the profile, the job types and the service area, and walk you through what Google asks for. Once it runs, management is part of the Google Ads package: $995 a month for both.

The demand behind this page

What new business owners search for when they look for help

These are the searches from Google Keyword Planner for the United States. Almost nobody searches for a new contractor marketing agency. People starting out search for how to set up a Google Business Profile, and for startup and small business agencies.

Run on 12 October 2026, United States, English. Read from Keyword Planner on 12 October 2026. New contractors do not search for a new contractor marketing agency; those terms return no measurable volume. They search for how to set up a Google Business Profile, and the agency terms they use are startup and small business ones.

Then Google Ads management is $795 a month on ad budgets from $2,500 to $10,000, $995 with Local Services Ads, and 10% of spend above $10,000. Hosting is free while we run your Google Ads or Meta ads. Month to month, no contract.

Skip any piece you already have. A business with a working website pays for the profile and the ads setup only. The website, the profile and every ad account are opened in your name from the first day, and the ad spend is billed by Google directly to you.

Straight answers

Questions we get asked

How much does it cost to market a new contracting business with you?

$1,950 to start, itemized: website $700, Google Business Profile $200, Google Ads setup with landing pages $750, and Local Services Ads setup $300. Then Google Ads management is $795 a month on ad budgets from $2,500, or $995 with Local Services Ads. Month to month, no contract.

Do I need a website before I run Google Ads?

Google Ads needs a page to send the click to, and a page you own is the one worth paying for. We build the website for $700, and a landing page for each campaign during the $750 Google Ads setup.

Can a brand new business run Local Services Ads?

Yes, if Google lists your trade and the business passes Google's screening, which can include registration, licences, insurance and background checks. Setup and guidance is $300, and management is part of the Google Ads package at $995 a month for both.

What if I can't spend $2,500 a month on ads yet?

Start with the website and the Google Business Profile, $900 together, and add the ads when the budget is ready. Below $2,500 a month our fee would be most of what you spend.

Is the website hosting really free?

Yes, for as long as we run your Google Ads or Meta ads. The website and the domain are yours either way.

Can I skip the pieces I already have?

Yes. Every price is listed separately for that reason. A business with a working website pays for the profile and the ads setup only.

How soon will the phone ring?

Search ads can show as soon as the account is live, so the first calls usually come from Google Ads. Local Services Ads start after Google's screening, and the map pack takes longest because it relies on reviews. We will not promise a number of calls before we have seen your market.

Who owns the ad account?

You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.

Exclusive leads

Exclusive contractor leads, because you own the account they come from

We do not sell contractor leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.

A shared lead from a lead seller

  • Sold to three or four contractor companies at once
  • You are racing two competitors to call first
  • Priced per lead, so volume is their incentive
  • Stops the day you stop paying, with nothing left behind
  • No account, no history, no keyword data that is yours

An exclusive lead from your own account

  • Yours only. Never sold on, never shared
  • The homeowner called you, not a directory
  • Flat management fee, so nobody profits from more spend
  • The account, history and landing pages stay with you
  • Local Services Ads disputes filed weekly on your behalf

Exclusive contractor leads, by market

We provide exclusive contractor leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by where your crews work rather than where we sit.

NortheastExclusive contractor leads in New York, Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Philadelphia, Boston, Newark, Pittsburgh, Hartford, Buffalo
SoutheastExclusive contractor leads in Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Nashville, Birmingham, Richmond
MidwestExclusive contractor leads in Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Kansas City, St. Louis
South CentralExclusive contractor leads in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Memphis, Tulsa, Baton Rouge
WestExclusive contractor leads in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City
Do you provide exclusive contractor leads in New York?
Yes. We run exclusive contractor lead campaigns in New York, including Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens, and in more than 45 other United States metros. The leads are exclusive because they come from a Google Ads account held in your name, so they are never resold and never shared with another contractor company.
Which cities do you run exclusive contractor lead campaigns in?
We run exclusive contractor lead campaigns in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and across roughly 50 metros nationwide. Campaigns are managed remotely, so coverage is set by where your crews actually work rather than where we are based. Smaller and rural markets are covered too, and the auction there is usually cheaper than any major metro.
Are your contractor leads shared with other companies?
No. We are not a lead seller. A shared lead is sold to three or four contractor companies at once, which is why you end up racing competitors to call first. We build and run the ad account in your name instead, so every call and form belongs to you alone, and the account, history and landing pages stay with you if we ever part ways.
Is Blue Grid Media a Google Partner?
Yes. Blue Grid Media is a Google Partner. Each account manager handles 20 accounts at most, and every contractor ad account is opened in the owner's own name, so the account and its history stay with the business.

Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run contractor accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.

Websites and landing pages

The website is the first thing a new business owns

A new contractor usually has a phone number and a Facebook page. The $700 website gives the ads somewhere to land that you own, with a page per service, call tracking and free hosting while we run your ads.

Fast and mobile first

Most local searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.

Call and form tracking wired in

Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.

Local SEO and schema

On-page SEO and local schema markup so the site earns map and organic visibility over time instead of only working while the ads are switched on.

Campaign landing pages come with the Google Ads setup. The $750 one-time setup builds a landing page for each campaign. The pricing above is for a full website, which you may or may not need, and the new business setup is for a business starting with no website and no Google Business Profile.
