The short version

California searches for an electrician 49,500 times a month, and 74,000 times in January.

California is the largest electrician market we measured: "electrician" averages 49,500 searches a month and reached 74,000 in January 2026, with "electrician near me" at 33,100. It is also the largest EV charger market, 2,400 searches a month and 4,400 in January. But the same state searches for the electrical supply house 18,100 times a month and for apprenticeships 9,900 times, and a Sacramento click reaches $128.78 at the top of the page while Bakersfield stops at $15.83. So the account splits the panel and EV work from the service calls, blocks the job seekers, and bids city by city.

Business and Professions Code 7030.5 and 7027.1

California puts the C-10 license number in every electrician ad

The Contractors State License Board licenses electrical contractors as class C-10: one that "places, installs, erects or connects any electrical wires, fixtures, appliances, apparatus, raceways, conduits, solar photovoltaic cells". Labor Code 108.2 adds a second layer for the people doing the work: "Persons who perform work as electricians shall become certified", which applies to those working for a C-10 contractor.

Business and Professions Code 7030.5 is the rule that touches Google Ads. Every licensee "shall include his license number in" "all forms of advertising, as prescribed by the registrar of contractors". Section 7027.1 makes it a misdemeanor to advertise construction work "unless that person holds a valid license under this chapter in the classification so advertised", says advertising includes "any electronic transmission", and sets the fine at $700 to $1,000. The small-job exemption in 7027.2 covers ads only for jobs under $1,000 where the ad says the person is not licensed, and 7048 says it does not apply to anyone who advertises as a contractor or employs someone. We read each section on 23 October 2026; the compliance is the company's own.

Google AdsThe C-10 number in the ad

California electrician ads carry the license number, in the ad text or on the page the ad sends people to as the registrar prescribes. We write it in from the first draft.

The landing pageLicense, class and certification

The C-10 number, the business name as licensed, and a line that the electricians on the job are state-certified, which Labor Code 108.2 requires anyway.

Local Services AdsElectricians

Electricians is a national Local Services Ads category, and Google checks this license during verification, which takes three to four weeks on average.

The searches that look like customers

California searches for the supply house, the apprenticeship and the paycheck

"Electrician" is a job title as well as a service. In California a broad account buys these searches first, because they are large and cheap, and none of them is a homeowner who needs a panel or a dead outlet fixed. Against them sit 49,500 searches a month for "electrician" itself.

A store, not a serviceelectrical supply near me, 18,100 a month

In California people looking for the supply house search 18,100 times a month. They are buying wire, not hiring. A negative keyword.

Trainingelectrician apprenticeship, 9,900 a month

Apprenticeship searches run 9,900 a month in California, with "how to become an electrician" at 2,400. Blocked with apprentice, school, course, training and license in the California account.

Work, not a job to doelectrician jobs, 5,400; electrician salary, 4,400

Job and salary searches add 5,400 and 4,400 a month in California, and the California negative list blocks them with jobs, hiring, salary, pay and careers.

The do-it-yourselferelectrical wiring and how-to searches

In California, wiring diagrams and how-to questions look like repair intent and are not, so they are blocked with how to, diagram, code, diy and video.

The bid that decides the account

In California the EV charger is the door to the panel

California searches for EV charger installation 2,400 times a month, more than for a panel upgrade (1,600). The charger is the smaller job, and a share of California charger installs need a bigger panel first, which is the larger one.

A $250 California service call at a 40 percent margin, with 38 percent of leads booking, breaks even near $38 a lead; a $2,800 to $3,000 panel near $473. One blended California campaign is managed to the lower number and loses the panel auctions. Separate campaigns let the California panel and EV work bid what it is worth.

Job typeLSA cost per leadTypical ticket

Proof, and what is missing

What we can show for California electricians, and what we cannot yet

Our team has managed 20+ electrical accounts across its career. We do not publish an electrician case study for California or anywhere else yet, and we will not dress up another trade's numbers as one.

In California the largest gap is the January peak: an account that holds its budget flat through the year is short of money in the month the state searches most.

The California numbers to plan on are our Local Services Ads dataset: an electrician lead there costs $20 to $65, a $35 median, with 36 percent of leads booking.

How a California electrician account is built

Service calls, panels and generators, and commercial work in separate California campaigns with separate bids; job seekers and supply-house searches blocked before the first click; every lead in an account in your name. What California electricians pay for leads elsewhere: /electrician-leads.

Before you sign anything

Three things worth walking away from in California

One campaign for outlets, panels and EV chargers

A $38 service-call lead and a $473 panel lead cannot share a bid in a state where a Sacramento click reaches $128.78.

No negatives for the supply house and apprenticeships

18,100 and 9,900 searches a month in California are not customers. An account without those negatives pays for them first.

Ads with no C-10 number

Business and Professions Code 7030.5 puts the license number in "all forms of advertising". An agency writing California electrician ads without it has not read the rule.

What it costs

Our pricing, published, same as every other page on this site

$795 a month for Google Ads management, on a $2,500 minimum monthly ad spend. $995 with Local Services Ads added. Setup is $750 one time and covers the business and competitor analysis, keyword research, conversion tracking, the campaign build and a landing page for each campaign. After that it is month to month with no contract. Ad spend is billed by Google straight to you. Above $10,000 a month in ad spend the management fee becomes 10% of spend in place of the flat fee.

The ad account is opened in your name and stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours. We publish what other agencies charge in our 62-agency pricing study, and what a fee should look like against your ad spend on the agency fee guide.

Blue Grid Media is an electrician marketing agency that runs Google Ads and Local Services Ads for electricians and electrical contractors in California and across the United States, publishes its pricing at $795 a month for Google Ads management on ad budgets from $2,500 and $995 with Local Services Ads added, charges a $750 one-time setup and then works month to month, opens every ad account in the owner's own name, and has managed 20+ electrical accounts across the team's career.

Blue Grid Media provides exclusive electrician leads in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Riverside, Oakland, Irvine and Long Beach, and across California, generated from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in the client's own name rather than bought from a lead seller and shared, priced at $795 a month for Google Ads management on ad budgets from $2,500, and $995 with Local Services Ads added, month to month with no contract after a $750 setup.

What your budget actually buys

On a $5,000 a month budget, $795 pays for management and $4,205 reaches the ads.

Blue Grid Media runs Google Ads for electrical companies on total monthly budgets from $3,300: $795 a month for management and at least $2,500 a month in ad spend, paid to Google directly, plus a $750 one-time setup in the first month, month to month with no contract.

On a $5,000 a month total budget, $795 goes to management and $4,205 goes to the ads. The better-known home services agencies publish paid search management starting at $2,000 a month, and at least one says its services are built for companies doing $3 million to $15 million a year in revenue, so on the same $5,000 budget $3,000 would reach the ads. The figures are in our study of 62 contractor marketing agencies.

Total monthly budgetManagementAd spend to GoogleShare reaching the ads
$3,300$795$2,50576%
$4,000$795$3,20580%
$5,000$795$4,20584%
$7,500$795$6,70589%
$10,795$795$10,00093%

Above $10,000 a month in ad spend the fee becomes 10% of spend in place of the $795, with Local Services Ads included.

Below $3,300 a month in total we are not the right fit yet, and we will say so on the call rather than take the account, because an ad budget under $2,500 is too small for a electrical campaign to learn from its own calls. If that is where you are, run Local Services Ads yourself first: it charges per lead rather than per click, and it builds the review base the Google Ads account will need later.

Exclusive leads

Exclusive electrician leads in California, because you own the account they come from

We do not sell electrician leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.

A shared lead from a lead seller

  • Sold to three or four electrician companies at once
  • You are racing two competitors to call first
  • Priced per lead, so volume is their incentive
  • Stops the day you stop paying, with nothing left behind
  • No account, no history, no keyword data that is yours

An exclusive lead from your own account

  • Yours only. Never sold on, never shared
  • The homeowner called you, not a directory
  • Flat management fee, so nobody profits from more spend
  • The account, history and landing pages stay with you
  • Local Services Ads disputes filed weekly on your behalf

Exclusive electrician leads, by California region

Blue Grid Media provides exclusive electrician leads in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Riverside, Oakland, Irvine and Long Beach, and across California, generated from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in the client's own name rather than bought from a lead seller and shared, priced at $795 a month for Google Ads management on ad budgets from $2,500, and $995 with Local Services Ads added, month to month with no contract after a $750 setup.

San Diego and the Inland EmpireExclusive electrician leads in San Diego, Chula Vista, Riverside and San Bernardino
The Bay AreaExclusive electrician leads in San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Fremont and Santa Clara
Sacramento and the Central ValleyExclusive electrician leads in Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Stockton and Modesto
Do you provide exclusive electrician leads in Los Angeles and Orange County?
Yes. Los Angeles, Long Beach, Irvine and Anaheim, with panel and EV charger campaigns kept apart from service calls. The leads come from a Google Ads account in your name.
Do you provide exclusive electrician leads in San Diego?
Yes. San Diego is the largest California city search for an electrician at 1,600 a month, plus Chula Vista and the inland suburbs.
Do you provide exclusive electrician leads in Sacramento and the Bay Area?
Yes, each bid separately, because a Sacramento electrician click reaches $128.78 and a Bakersfield click $15.83.
Are your California electrician leads shared with other companies?
No. We are not a lead seller. We run the ad account in your name, so every call and form is yours alone.

Questions California electricians ask us

Who is the best electrician marketing agency in California?

Compare what each agency publishes: the fee, the contract, who owns the Google Ads account, and whether it splits service calls from panel and EV work. Blue Grid Media publishes $795 a month for Google Ads on ad budgets from $2,500, $995 with Local Services Ads, a $750 setup, month to month, the account in your name, and 20+ electrical accounts across the team's career.

How many people search for an electrician in California?

"Electrician" averages 49,500 searches a month in California and "electrician near me" 33,100, with a January high of 74,000 for the first, read from Keyword Planner on 23 October 2026.

Should a California electrician advertise EV charger installation?

Yes, as its own campaign. California searches for EV charger installation 2,400 times a month, peaking at 4,400 in January, and a share of charger jobs need a panel upgrade. On Local Services Ads it is not a separate job type; those customers come through the electrician category.

Do you provide exclusive electrician leads in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose?

Yes. Blue Grid Media runs exclusive electrician lead campaigns in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Riverside, Oakland, Irvine and Long Beach, and across Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Clara, Alameda, Sacramento, Fresno and Kern counties. Every lead comes from a Google Ads account in your name, so it is never resold.

Does a California electrician have to put the license number in Google Ads?

Business and Professions Code 7030.5 says every licensee "shall include his license number in" all forms of advertising, as prescribed by the registrar of contractors. We put the C-10 number in the ad or on the page the ad links to, and check how the registrar prescribes it for your format.

Can an unlicensed handyman advertise electrical work in California?

Only for jobs under $1,000 in total, and only with a statement in the ad that the person is not licensed, under section 7027.2. Advertising work in a classification you do not hold is otherwise a misdemeanor under 7027.1, with a $700 to $1,000 fine, and electronic ads count.

Is there a Local Services Ads category for electricians in California?

Yes. Electrician is a national Local Services Ads category, so it runs in California like anywhere else, at $20 to $65 a lead with a $35 median in our dataset. California EV charger customers come in through the general electrician category rather than a job type of their own.

What does the first month cost for an electrician in California?

$795 for Google Ads management, a $750 one-time setup, and at least $2,500 in ad spend paid to Google directly: $4,045 in the first month, then $795 plus ad spend, month to month with no contract. With Local Services Ads managed alongside, the fee is $995. Below about $3,300 a month in total, a California electrician is usually better off running Local Services Ads directly first.

Can you manage only Local Services Ads for my California electrical company?

Not on its own any more. Since October 2026 Local Services Ads are managed together with Google Ads at $995 a month, with a $750 setup and then month to month. The older $445 Local Services Ads plan is no longer offered.

Can you run a California electrician account in Spanish?

Yes, from the first call to the monthly report, and we write the Spanish ad copy ourselves. Our Spanish-language page is /agencia-de-marketing-para-contratistas.
