AC repair is searched 33,100 times a month in California on average, 74,000 in August 2026 and 14,800 in December, a five-to-one swing that no other large state matches. Furnace repair near me runs 9,900 in January, so the account has a real heating season too. Business and Professions Code 7030.5 requires the licence number in all forms of advertising, and 7027.1 makes advertising the work without a C-20 licence a misdemeanor. And a Sacramento click runs to $192 while a Los Angeles click runs to $66. So the account is bid by metro, flipped to heating in December, and carries the CSLB number in every ad.
Keyword Planner figures for the state of California, read on 14 October 2026, with the twelve-month series behind each one. The summer peak is late and steep: 60,500 in July, 74,000 in August, 40,500 in September, against a December floor of 14,800. The near me phrasing peaks in September at 33,100.
The heating season is larger than most people assume for California. Furnace repair near me ran 9,900 in January 2026 and heating repair near me 8,100, each four to five times their May figure. Heat pump installation holds 1,900 to 3,600 all year, and ductless mini split searches run 2,900 a month at the cheapest clicks on this page.

Google Keyword Planner, geography California, read 14 October 2026. Duct cleaning near me, 6,600 a month, is a separate trade with no Local Services Ads category and its own page on this site. Commercial hvac shows one-month spikes of 8,100 and 9,900 in December and January that look like a data artefact, so its average is not used.
Monthly California searches for ac repair, October 2025 to September 2026. December, the lighter bar, is 14,800; August is 74,000, five times the floor.
Blue Grid Media runs exclusive HVAC lead campaigns in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto and Riverside, and across Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Clara, Alameda, Sacramento, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Stanislaus and Ventura counties, from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in your name. The territory is wherever your technicians drive, because we manage the account remotely.
California has the widest click-price spread of any state we have measured. An ac repair click in Sacramento runs $51.30 to $192.35 at the top of the page, the highest HVAC bid on this site; in Fresno it runs to $149.59 and in Palm Springs to $138.47. In Los Angeles the same click runs $12.21 to $66.30, and San Diego $16.62 to $78.80. One state campaign would spend the Los Angeles budget on Sacramento clicks.

Where two phrasings exist the table adds them; Keyword Planner reports them separately. Furnace repair searches by city are a winter series: furnace repair san jose ran 1,000 in February 2026 and 40 in May.
California HVAC is bought in two seasons of unequal size, and the account changes shape between them rather than running the same budget all year. The summer is five times the winter floor on ac repair; the winter is five times the summer floor on furnace repair.
Ac repair 60,500 in July, 74,000 in August, 40,500 in September. Emergency ac repair 5,400 in July, ac maintenance 14,800, ac not cooling 1,300. Repair and emergency campaigns at full budget with same-day copy.
Ac repair falls to 27,100 then 18,100; furnace installation runs 3,600 in October. The replacement campaign with financing on the landing page carries the autumn.
Furnace repair near me 9,900 in January, heating repair near me 8,100, hvac contractors near me 9,900 in January and February, its highest months. A heating campaign built in November and paused in March.
Ac tune up 2,400 and ac maintenance 9,900 in March, before the first hot week. The ad names the plan price and sells the plan rather than the single visit.
Business and Professions Code 7030.5 says every person licensed under the contractors chapter "shall include his license number in: (a) all construction contracts; (b) subcontracts and calls for bid; and (c) all forms of advertising, as prescribed by the registrar of contractors". Section 7027.1 says it is a misdemeanor "to advertise for construction or work of improvement covered by this chapter unless that person holds a valid license under this chapter in the classification so advertised", that advertising includes "any electronic transmission", and that the fine is "not less than seven hundred dollars ($700) and not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000)". We read both sections on 14 October 2026; they are linked below, and the compliance is the contractor's own.
The classification is C-20, Warm-Air Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning. The Contractors State License Board defines it as a contractor who "fabricates, installs, maintains, services and repairs warm-air heating systems and water heating heat pumps", ventilating systems, and "air-conditioning systems complete with air-conditioning unit", including systems that use solar energy. HVAC (heating or air conditioning) is also a national Google Local Services Ads category, read from Google's list on 14 October 2026, so a C-20 holder can carry the Google Verified badge after Google's licence, insurance and background checks.
For the account that means the CSLB number is in the description line of every ad, on every landing page, in the Local Services Ads application and on the Business Profile, and the ad copy names the C-20 where a homeowner would search for it.
A Google search ad is an electronic transmission under 7027.1 and a form of advertising under 7030.5. The licence number goes in every California HVAC ad we write.
Google checks the C-20, general liability insurance and runs a background check before the Google Verified badge shows. Verification takes three to four weeks on average, so it starts on day one.
Every California landing page we build shows the CSLB number, the insurance, and the financing terms on the replacement page, because a $10,000 heat pump system is bought on monthly payments.
Each job below is searched by name, priced differently at the top of the page, and converts at a different rate, so each gets its own campaign rather than sharing one budget with the rest. The click figures are Keyword Planner top-of-page bids for California; what accounts actually pay sits lower, as our benchmark table shows.
The account's centre of gravity, with an August peak of 74,000. Same-day copy, the CSLB number in the description, and the landing page built around the call.
The highest booking rate in the account. Built in May, live for the summer, with after-hours copy that matches the hours somebody answers.
The large ticket. The landing page carries the financing, the brands you are authorised for and the SEER figures California buyers search.
A twelve-week campaign built in November and paused in March, with cold-snap copy. Furnace repair clicks run to $86.
The job California policy is pushing. Heat pump rebate searches hold a flat 260 a month, so the landing page explains the rebate rather than the ad.
The cheapest clicks in California HVAC, peaking at 5,400 in July. The buyer has chosen the product; the ad names the install price range.
The recurring revenue. The ad names the plan price and sells the plan rather than the single visit.
California has the largest Spanish-speaking population in the country. We write the Spanish ad copy and run the account in Spanish for owners who prefer it.
The one California account we publish in full is a roofer in Orange County, Search campaigns only: 6 leads at $570 in our first 30 days, 34 leads at $161 a month by the third window, with the slow first month and its cause published on the page. The other two case studies are a Connecticut waterproofing company, 39 leads at $150 in its best 30 days, and an Orlando locksmith, 130 measured leads at $53 after spend fell 34 percent. None of the three is an HVAC company.
The HVAC figures we publish are the benchmark table on our HVAC page: a $42 median Local Services Ads cost per lead inside a $25 to $75 range across a benchmark set of about 1,200 HVAC accounts, 38 percent of those leads booked, and Google Ads lead costs of $50 to $130 at repair clicks of $8 to $22 and replacement clicks of $14 to $35. Those are prices accounts paid, which is why they sit far below the Sacramento and Fresno bids above.
What transfers from the Orange County roofer to a California HVAC account is the mechanics: calls set as the goal the account bids toward, one campaign per job type, the high-ticket work in its own campaign, and any city that never produces a lead cut from targeting. When a California HVAC account has 90 days of data we can publish, it will appear here with the same detail.
6 leads to 34 a month, cost per lead $570 to $161, Search campaigns only, at /case-study-roofing-orange-county. The HVAC benchmark table is on /hvac-marketing-agency.
Section 7030.5 requires the licence number in all forms of advertising and 7027.1 makes advertising without the classification a misdemeanor with a $700 to $1,000 fine. An agency that leaves the number out of the copy has not read either section.
A Sacramento click runs to $192 and a Los Angeles click to $66. One campaign with one bid spends the Los Angeles budget on Sacramento clicks and reports it as a lead cost.
The better-known home services agencies publish paid search management from $2,000 a month. On $5,000 in total that leaves $3,000 for ads in an auction where a Fresno click runs to $150. Ours leaves $4,205.
$795 a month for Google Ads management, on a $2,500 minimum monthly ad spend. $995 with Local Services Ads added. Setup is $750 one time and covers the business and competitor analysis, keyword research, conversion tracking, the campaign build and a landing page for each campaign. After that it is month to month with no contract. Ad spend is billed by Google straight to you. Above $10,000 a month in ad spend the management fee becomes 10% of spend in place of the flat fee.
The ad account is opened in your name and stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours. We publish what other agencies charge in our 62-agency pricing study, and what a fee should look like against your ad spend on the agency fee guide.
Blue Grid Media is an HVAC marketing agency that runs Google Ads and Local Services Ads for HVAC companies in California and across the United States, publishes its pricing at $795 a month for Google Ads management on ad budgets from $2,500 and $995 with Local Services Ads added, charges a $750 one-time setup and then works month to month with no contract, and opens every HVAC ad account in the owner's own name so the leads are exclusive rather than shared.
Blue Grid Media provides exclusive HVAC leads in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto and Riverside, and across California, generated from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in the client's own name rather than bought from a lead seller and shared, priced at $795 a month for Google Ads management on ad budgets from $2,500, and $995 with Local Services Ads added, month to month with no contract after a $750 setup.
Blue Grid Media runs Google Ads for HVAC companies on total monthly budgets from $3,300: $795 a month for management and at least $2,500 a month in ad spend, paid to Google directly, plus a $750 one-time setup in the first month, month to month with no contract.
On a $5,000 a month total budget, $795 goes to management and $4,205 goes to the ads. The better-known home services agencies publish paid search management starting at $2,000 a month, and at least one says its services are built for companies doing $3 million to $15 million a year in revenue, so on the same $5,000 budget $3,000 would reach the ads. The figures are in our study of 62 contractor marketing agencies.
| Total monthly budget | Management | Ad spend to Google | Share reaching the ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| $3,300 | $795 | $2,505 | 76% |
| $4,000 | $795 | $3,205 | 80% |
| $5,000 | $795 | $4,205 | 84% |
| $7,500 | $795 | $6,705 | 89% |
| $10,795 | $795 | $10,000 | 93% |
Above $10,000 a month in ad spend the fee becomes 10% of spend in place of the $795, with Local Services Ads included.
Below $3,300 a month in total we are not the right fit yet, and we will say so on the call rather than take the account, because an ad budget under $2,500 is too small for a HVAC campaign to learn from its own calls. If that is where you are, run Local Services Ads yourself first: it charges per lead rather than per click, and it builds the review base the Google Ads account will need later.
We do not sell HVAC leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.
There is no single answer, and anyone who says there is wants the account. Compare agencies on what they publish: the fee, the contract term, who owns the Google Ads account, whether they manage Local Services Ads, and whether they put the CSLB number in the ad as 7030.5 requires. Blue Grid Media publishes all of it: $795 a month for Google Ads on ad budgets from $2,500, $995 with Local Services Ads, a $750 setup, month to month, the account in your name, a benchmark table for HVAC cost per lead, and the California data on this page.
Start at $2,500 to $4,000 a month in ad spend for a single metro, and plan to double the daily budgets for July through September. California HVAC clicks run $14 to $77 at the top of the page for repair statewide and from $9 in Los Angeles to $192 in Sacramento by metro, though our benchmark shows accounts actually paying $8 to $22 a click on repair terms; at $15 to $40 a click, $3,000 a month buys roughly 75 to 200 clicks, and the Local Services Ads leads beside them book at 38 percent in our benchmark.
Yes. Business and Professions Code 7030.5 requires every licensed contractor to include the licence number in all forms of advertising, and 7027.1 makes it a misdemeanor to advertise the work without a licence in that classification, with a fine of $700 to $1,000. We put the CSLB number in every ad and on every landing page, and we will not run HVAC ads for a company without a C-20.
August, at 74,000 searches for ac repair against 14,800 in December, with July at 60,500 and September at 40,500. The heating peak is January: furnace repair near me 9,900 and heating repair near me 8,100 against 1,900 each in May. Ac maintenance peaks in July at 14,800 and again in March at 9,900.
Yes. HVAC (heating or air conditioning) is a national Local Services Ads category on Google's list, read on 14 October 2026, with no California restriction. Google checks the C-20 licence, insurance and a background check before the Google Verified badge shows, three to four weeks on average. The median HVAC Local Services Ads lead in our benchmark costs $42.
Yes. Blue Grid Media runs exclusive HVAC lead campaigns in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto and Riverside, and across Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Clara, Alameda, Sacramento, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Stanislaus and Ventura counties, bid by metro because a Sacramento click costs three times a Los Angeles click. Every lead arrives through a Google Ads account in your name, so it is never resold and no other HVAC company sees it.
The benchmark table on our HVAC page gives a $42 median Local Services Ads cost per lead, a $25 to $75 range across roughly 1,200 HVAC accounts, and $50 to $130 per lead on Google Ads. A Los Angeles or San Diego account should expect the middle of those ranges; Sacramento, Fresno and the desert sit at the top because of their click prices.
We run HVAC accounts across the country and the team has managed 20+ HVAC accounts over its career, and our published Orange County account is a roofer, not an HVAC company. A California HVAC count would be a guess, so we do not publish one. The first California HVAC account with 90 days of publishable data will be added to this page.
$795 for Google Ads management, $750 once for the setup, and the ad spend, at least $2,500, paid to Google directly: $4,045 in month one, then $795 plus ad spend, month to month with no contract. With Local Services Ads managed alongside the fee is $995.
Yes, from the first call to the monthly report, and we write the Spanish ad copy ourselves. The Spanish-language page is /agencia-de-marketing-para-contratistas.
