The short version

Two enrollment seasons. One trial class that decides it.

Jiu jitsu near me is searched about 135,000 times a month and dance classes near me about 110,000, and both peak in September and January. The clicks are cheap, mostly $1 to $5. A studio account that pays is built program by program, around the two enrollment seasons, and measured on trial classes that turn into members.

Sound familiar?

What studio owners tell us before we see the account

Studio owners who call us describe the same four problems. Most of them come back to counting the trial instead of the enrollment.

We fill every free trial and half of them never come back.

A trial is a cost, and the enrollment is the return. The account is judged on how many trials became members, not on how many signed up.

September is chaos and March is dead.

Martial arts for kids near me reaches about 27,100 searches in August and September and falls to 14,800 in December. The budget follows that calendar instead of running flat.

The ads bring adults when we want kids, or kids when we want adults.

A parent searching kids karate and an adult searching jiu jitsu are different buyers. Separate campaigns, separate pages, separate trial offers.

Someone sold us Local Services Ads for our karate school.

Google lists Dance instructor in Local Services Ads, but no martial arts category under any name. A martial arts school runs on Google Ads.

The calendar

Studio searches peak twice a year, at back to school and in January

Keyword Planner's monthly figures show the pattern. Jiu jitsu near me rises from about 135,000 a month to about 165,000 in September, January and August. Dance classes near me rises from about 110,000 to 135,000 in September and January, and drops to 90,500 in July. Kids dance classes near me reaches about 40,500 in September, January and August.

So a studio account spends ahead of those two windows, with the trial offer ready and the class times on the page, and holds a lower floor in the months between.

How students search

Parents search for the child, adults search for the discipline

The searches split cleanly. Parents search kids martial arts, kids dance and ballet. Adults search the discipline by name: jiu jitsu, MMA, salsa, adult ballet. Clicks are cheap across the board, so the waste comes from sending the wrong buyer to the wrong page, not from the price.

The trade

About 22,100 sports instruction schools and 16,300 fine arts schools have employees

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 22,143 private establishments in Sports and Recreation Instruction in 2025, with 191,910 employees, up from 21,468 in 2024. The industry includes martial arts schools, along with swimming, golf and other sports instruction. Fine Arts Schools, which include dance studios along with music, art and drama schools, counted 16,299 establishments and 129,074 employees.

Those counts include only businesses with employees, so the owner who teaches every class alone is not in them. Either way, the studio down the street is competing for the same September.

Four things worth walking away from

Local Services Ads sold to a martial arts school

Google has no martial arts category. Dance instructor is listed; karate, jiu jitsu and taekwondo are not.

Results counted in free trials

A trial is a cost. Ask how many trials enrolled, by program.

The same budget in March as in September

Studio searches peak at back to school and in January. A flat budget misses both windows.

One ad for kids and adults

A parent and an adult want different things. One ad sends half of them to the wrong page.

Dance instructor is a Local Services Ads category. Martial arts is not.

Google's US Local Services Ads list, read on 8 October 2026, carries Dance instructor, and it is not one of the seven categories restricted to California and Florida. There is no martial arts, karate, jiu jitsu or taekwondo category under any name. A dance studio can run Local Services Ads alongside Google Ads. A martial arts school runs on Google Ads, and anyone selling it Local Services Ads has not checked. Google says the Google Verified badge applies to select verticals only, so we do not promise one. Read from Google's own category list.

Straight answers

Questions we get asked

Is martial arts a Google Local Services Ads category?

No. Google's US Local Services Ads list, read on 8 October 2026, carries Dance instructor but no martial arts, karate, jiu jitsu or taekwondo category under any name. A martial arts school advertises on Google Ads; a dance studio can run both.

When do studio searches peak?

At back to school and in January. Keyword Planner shows jiu jitsu near me at about 165,000 searches in September, January and August against about 135,000 on average, and martial arts for kids near me at about 27,100 in August and September against 14,800 in December.

How do you measure a studio account?

On enrollments. The trial class is the cost of meeting a family, and the enrollment is the return. We count trial bookings from the ad and report the trials that became members, by program.

How many martial arts and dance schools are there?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 22,143 private establishments in Sports and Recreation Instruction in 2025, which includes martial arts schools, and 16,299 in Fine Arts Schools, which includes dance studios. Both counts cover only businesses with employees.

What does a studio click cost?

Most studio searches run about $1 to $6 at the top of the page in Keyword Planner, read on 8 October 2026. No published cost per enrollment exists, so your own account sets that number.

Do you work with a single-location studio?

Yes, with no contract. A studio with clear programs, a trial offer and class times on the page is the simplest version of this account.

How much does a martial arts or dance studio marketing agency cost?

Blue Grid Media charges from $695 a month for Google Ads management, and $445 a month for Local Services Ads management for studios that teach dance, or $995 for both, month to month with no setup fee. The Google Ads fee follows your monthly ad spend: $695 up to $3,000, $995 from $3,000 to $8,000 and $1,495 from $8,000 to $20,000. In our study of 62 contractor marketing agencies, only 22 published a price at all.

What should I look for in a studio marketing agency?

A published price, month to month terms, the ad account in your name, separate campaigns for kids and adults, spend timed to back to school and January, and reports in enrollments rather than free trials.

Should we advertise a free trial class?

A trial is a good offer if the account counts what happens after it. Measured on sign-ups, a free trial fills with people who never enroll; measured on enrollments, the bidding learns to find the families who stay.

When should a studio switch agencies?

When you cannot see your own account, when the report counts trials instead of enrollments, when the budget is flat all year, or when a contract stops you leaving.

Is Blue Grid Media a Google Partner?

Yes. Blue Grid Media is a Google Partner. Each account manager handles 20 accounts at most, so your account gets looked at every week rather than once a quarter.

Can we work with you in Spanish?

Yes. Julian, who runs Blue Grid Media, works with clients in Spanish from the first call through onboarding, support and the monthly report, and writes Spanish ad copy himself rather than running it through a translator.

What does it cost?

We charge $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google directly to you and we never take a percentage of it. Campaign landing pages are included.

Who owns the ad account?

You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.

Exclusive leads

Exclusive martial arts and dance studio leads, because you own the account they come from

We do not sell martial arts and dance studio leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.

A shared lead from a lead seller

  • Sold to three or four studios at once
  • You are racing two competitors to call first
  • Priced per lead, so volume is their incentive
  • Stops the day you stop paying, with nothing left behind
  • No account, no history, no keyword data that is yours

An exclusive lead from your own account

  • Yours only. Never sold on, never shared
  • The family called you, not a directory
  • Flat management fee, so nobody profits from more spend
  • The account, history and landing pages stay with you
  • Search terms reviewed weekly, and the waste taken out

Exclusive martial arts and dance studio leads, by market

We provide exclusive martial arts and dance studio leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by the neighbourhoods your students live in rather than where we sit.

WestExclusive martial arts and dance studio leads in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City
Do you provide exclusive martial arts and dance studio leads in New York?
Yes. We run exclusive martial arts and dance studio lead campaigns in New York, including Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens, and in more than 45 other United States metros. The leads are exclusive because they come from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in your name, so they are never resold and never shared with another studio.
Which cities do you run exclusive martial arts and dance studio lead campaigns in?
We run exclusive martial arts and dance studio lead campaigns in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and across roughly 50 metros nationwide. Campaigns are managed remotely, so coverage is set by the neighbourhoods your students live in rather than where we are based. Smaller and rural markets are covered too, and the auction there is usually cheaper than any major metro.
Are your martial arts and dance studio leads shared with other companies?
No. We are not a lead seller. A shared lead is sold to three or four studios at once, which is why you end up racing competitors to call first. We build and run the ad account in your name instead, so every call and form belongs to you alone, and the account, history and landing pages stay with you if we ever part ways.

Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run martial arts and dance studio accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.

Websites and landing pages

The page that shows the class times and books the trial

A parent wants the ages, the schedule, the trial offer and a way to book it tonight. A page per program that shows all four turns the search into the trial class the enrollment depends on.

Fast and mobile first

Most local searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.

Call and form tracking wired in

Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.

Local SEO and schema
