A fixed-site wash lives or dies on how often the same car comes back. A mobile detailer sells a booked slot at many times the ticket and may never see that customer again. They share a keyword and almost nothing else, which is why one of them should be spending far more on search than the other.

Almost every mistake we see in this category comes from treating these as one trade because the words look similar. They are priced differently, bought differently and measured differently.
The first wash is close to worthless on its own. The value is in the customer who comes back, or better, signs up for unlimited. That means the number that decides whether ads work is not the cost of a customer, it is how long the average member stays. Most operators have never calculated it, and without it an ad budget is guesswork.
Many times the ticket, a considered decision, and a calendar that fills or does not. This is the side where paid search earns its keep straight away, because the job is worth enough to absorb a real cost per booking and the customer is genuinely searching rather than driving past.
The highest tickets in the category, searched by name, and usually contested by far fewer local advertisers than the word "detailing". A detailer bidding only on generic terms is competing hardest for the cheapest work.
Both are US Local Services Ads categories, they are listed separately, and neither is one of the seven restricted to California and Florida. That matters because the two sides of this trade attract different searchers, and being in the right one decides who you are shown to.
Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click and sit above the map pack, and passing the checks carries the Google Verified badge. For a mobile detailer turning up at somebody's house, a verification badge is worth more than it is in most trades.
Read from Google's own category list on 18 September 2026. The seven categories restricted to California and Florida are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. Car Wash and Car Detailing Service are on the national list. Plenty of published guides get this wrong, including, until recently, one of our own pages.
If you run a wash, work out how many times the average member uses it and how many months they stay before you set an ad budget. A single wash cannot carry an acquisition cost. Eighteen months of unlimited membership can carry a large one.
We are not going to print an industry average for either figure, because there is no credible published one and the variation between a tunnel in a dense suburb and a self-serve bay in a small town makes an average meaningless. Your own point of sale has the answer.
They are worth different amounts, so they cannot share a bid. This is the single highest-value split in the category.
Ceramic coating, paint correction, interior-only, headlight restoration and fleet work all get searched specifically, and generic detailing terms will eat the budget first if you let them.
A fixed-site wash is a convenience purchase, so the radius is small and the map pack matters more than the ad. Mobile detailing inverts that, because you travel.
Demand in this category moves with the forecast in a way it does not in most trades, and a static daily budget ignores it entirely.
Not clicks, and not form fills. Both sides of this trade have a step between enquiry and money, and that step is where most accounts are actually failing.
A membership sign-up and a ceramic coating booking are worth wildly different amounts and arrive from different searches, so they cannot share a bid. These are the splits we build from, each with its own budget and its own landing page.
Convenience and proximity decide it. The map pack matters more here than the ad does.
The only product in this category with real lifetime value, and the only one that can carry a serious acquisition cost.
High ticket, booked in advance, and the searcher is comparing rather than driving past.
Specialist work, searched by name, and contested by far fewer advertisers than the word detailing.
The highest ticket in the category and the one most often buried inside a generic detailing campaign.
Small, specific and cheap to win. Useful for keeping a detailing calendar full between larger jobs.
Recurring revenue from a single decision maker, which makes one signed account worth many consumer jobs.
Travels to the customer, so the targeting is a service area rather than a radius around a site.
There is not a credible one, and we do not print one either. The honest version is that your own account produces the number in the first couple of months.
Two businesses, two ticket sizes, one budget. The cheap clicks win and the expensive work never gets funded.
For a fixed-site wash it is the number that decides whether any of this works. An agency that has not asked is not going to be able to tell you if it is working either.
That is a map pack outcome driven mostly by proximity and your Google Business Profile, not something an ads budget buys.

These are the terms owners in this category use when they go looking for marketing help, from Google Keyword Planner for the United States. They size the audience for a page like this one rather than consumer demand for a wash, and we publish them because most agencies will not show you what they are targeting.

Run on 19 September 2026, United States, English. Around 860 searches a month across the distinct terms once Keyword Planner's synonym groups are collapsed, which is why several rows above carry the same figure: Google is reporting one bucket under several spellings. Do not add them up. Worth noting that detailing draws more of this demand than washing does, even though washing is the larger business, which tells you which half of the trade is already looking for help.
$445 a month for Local Services Ads management. From $695 for Google Ads. $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google straight to you and we never take a percentage of it. Custom landing pages for your campaigns are included at no charge.
The ad account is opened in your name and stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours. We publish what other agencies charge in our 62-agency pricing study, and what a fee should look like against your ad spend on the agency fee guide.
Blue Grid Media is a car wash and auto detailing marketing agency that runs Google Ads and Google Local Services Ads for car washes and mobile detailers across the United States, publishes its pricing at $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both, works month to month with no contract and no setup fee, and opens every detailing ad account in the owner's own name so the leads are exclusive rather than shared.
Blue Grid Media provides exclusive auto detailing leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total, generated from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in the client's own name rather than bought from a lead seller and shared, priced at $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both, month to month with no contract and no setup fee.
Yes, both, and they are listed separately. Google lists "Car Wash" and "Car Detailing Service" in its US Local Services Ads categories, and neither is among the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. Being in the right one of the two decides which searches you are shown for.
It depends entirely on what a member is worth to you over time, which is a number your point of sale has and most operators have never pulled. A single wash cannot absorb an acquisition cost. A membership that lasts over a year usually can. Work that out before setting a budget, and if the answer is that memberships are short, spend the money on retention instead.
Better suited to paid search than washing is, because the ticket is far higher and the customer is genuinely searching rather than driving past. The main thing to get right is splitting the services by name, since ceramic coating and an interior clean are not the same purchase and should not share a bid.
We do not publish one. No credible published figure exists for either half of this category, and quoting one from a different trade would be inventing it. Your own account produces the real number within a couple of months.
Yes, and for a fixed-site wash it usually matters more than the ads do, because this is a proximity purchase and the map pack is where proximity is decided.
We charge $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google directly to you and we never take a percentage of it. Campaign landing pages are included.
You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.
We do not sell auto detailing leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.
We provide exclusive auto detailing leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by where your crews work rather than where we sit.
Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run auto detailing accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.
A wash sells a recurring plan and a detailer sells a booked slot, and both of those happen on a page rather than in an ad. Online booking, plan comparison and real photographs of finished work do more of the selling in this category than the campaign does.
Most contractor searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.
Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.
On-page SEO and local schema markup so the site earns map and organic visibility over time instead of only working while the ads are switched on.
Bring your membership numbers or your detailing calendar and we will work out what an acquisition can cost before anybody talks about budgets. If the answer is that retention beats advertising, we will say so.
