The homeowner with a television to mount types television mounting. The one with a hole in the wall types drywall repair. Almost none of them type handyman, which is the keyword most handyman accounts are built on. The account that works is built task by task, judged on how many jobs a day it fills on a route that makes sense, and it knows exactly where the licence line sits in your state.

A generic handyman campaign buys a generic click: somebody who wants something done and has not said what. The search terms report fills with tasks you do not do, towns you do not serve and the occasional job seeker, because the word handyman is a category rather than a service.
Built the other way, the account has a campaign for each task worth doing, with an ad that names the task and a price, and a page that confirms both. The searcher who typed tv mounting sees an ad that says TV mounting from a stated price. That ad converts at a rate the generic one never will, and it costs less, because the specific term is contested by far fewer advertisers.
TV mounting, drywall repair, furniture assembly, door adjustment, each priced in the ad copy. The price filters the shopper before the click.
Electrical, plumbing and roofing searches arrive in a handyman account by default. Where the licence line in your state stops you, the negative list should too.
Our published handyman guide puts the job at one to three hours and the day at four to eight jobs. That only works inside a tight area, and the targeting should draw it.
Handyman is a national category. Let Local Services Ads carry the searcher who did type handyman, and let the task campaigns carry the ones who did not.
Our guide makes the arithmetic plain: a handyman job pays $150 to $300, a day holds four to eight of them, and a roofer's single $8,000 job is competing with a handyman's five or six $200 ones. Our published Local Services Ads figures for the trade are $12 to $40 a lead, a $22 median and a 40 percent booking rate, which is roughly $55 per booked job on the median.
At that ticket the lead cost is fine. What decides the month is whether the booked jobs sit on a route that lets the crew do six rather than three, and that is a targeting and scheduling question before it is an advertising one.
Six jobs inside one area, booked in a sequence that makes sense. The ad budget bought the first one and the schedule bought the rest.
Same leads, same cost, and the day pays half as much. A report built on cost per lead will never show it.
One customer, a list of small jobs, a half or full day on site. Sold through the first task and worth building the ad copy to invite.
Our handyman guide uses California as the example: no licence required for jobs under $500 including labour and materials, a contractor licence above it. Every state draws the line somewhere, and the line decides which tasks belong in the account and which searches have to be negatives. An agency that builds a handyman account without asking is building one that will spend on jobs you cannot legally take.
Google's US Local Services Ads category list carries Handyman as a national category, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. The one-to-three-hour job, four-to-eight-jobs-a-day and $150 to $300 figures are from Blue Grid Media's own handyman LSA guide; lead costs and booking rate from our LSA cost per lead dataset.
Nobody searches for a handyman. They search for the task. TV mounting, drywall repair, a door that will not close. These are the splits we build from, and each one is its own campaign because each one is its own search.
Searched by name, priced flat, and the cleanest example of a task that deserves its own ad.
A small job that leads to painting, and a search that never contains the word handyman.
High volume, low ticket, and worth running only inside a route that is already dense.
Sticking doors, loose handles, weatherstripping. Searched urgently by people who do not know who to call.
Faucets, fixtures, outlets, where the licence line in your state allows. Worth knowing exactly where that line sits.
Seasonal, bundleable, and the job that turns a one-task call into a half-day.
Outdoor repair work searched by the structure, not the trade.
A list of small jobs for one customer. The best-paying day a handyman has, and sold through the first task.
It is the word the customer does not type. An account that stops there is buying the vaguest click in the trade and reporting it as a lead.
Without it the account will bid on work you cannot take, and the search terms report will show it within a week.
At $150 to $300 a job the lead cost is rarely the problem. The day being half driving is, and nobody reporting leads will see it.
Google lists Handyman among its US Local Services Ads categories, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click, sit above the map pack, and passing the checks carries the Google Verified badge. Read from Google's own category list on 1 October 2026.

Yes, nationally. Google lists Handyman among its US categories, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. We read the list on 1 October 2026. Local Services Ads carry the searcher who typed handyman; the task campaigns on Google Ads carry the ones who typed the job.
Our published Local Services Ads figures are $12 to $40 a lead, $22 median, with a 40 percent booking rate, roughly $55 per booked job on the median against a $150 to $300 job. The lead cost is rarely what decides the month in this trade; route density is.
The ones you want more of, that are searched by name, and that sit inside your licence line. TV mounting, drywall repair, furniture assembly and door adjustment are the usual starting four. Each gets an ad that names the task and a price.
Only where your state allows it. The guide uses California's $500 threshold as the example, and every state draws its own line. We ask on the first call and build the negative list from the answer.
Yes, no minimum and no contract. The tight radius and task-by-task structure fit a solo operator better than a generic campaign ever does, because the account is only buying jobs one person can reach.
We charge $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google directly to you and we never take a percentage of it. Campaign landing pages are included.
You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.
We do not sell handyman leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.
We provide exclusive handyman leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by where your crews work rather than where we sit.
Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run handyman accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.
A homeowner who searched TV mounting should land on a TV mounting page with a flat price, not a list of everything you do. Task pages are cheap to build and they are where the click becomes a booking.
Most contractor searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.
Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.
On-page SEO and local schema markup so the site earns map and organic visibility over time instead of only working while the ads are switched on.
Bring the tasks you actually want and the radius you will drive. We will work out which tasks deserve their own campaign, where the licence line sits in your state, and what the account should be judged on. No charge.
