The short version

The map answers haircut near me. The ad sells the balayage.

Nail salon near me is searched about 3,350,000 times a month and hair salon near me about 1,500,000, at under $3 a click, and Google Maps decides most of them by distance and reviews. The searches with a ticket behind them are smaller: balayage, extensions, lash sets and braids. A salon account that pays is built around those services and judged on the second visit.

Sound familiar?

What salon and barbershop owners tell us before we see the account

Owners who call us describe the same four problems. Most of them come back to paying for the search the map was going to send anyway.

We pay for haircut near me and every click wants the cheapest cut in town.

Haircut near me is searched about 1,220,000 times a month at $0.46 to $2.09, and the map decides it by distance and stars. The ad money goes further on the services you want more of.

New clients come once on a coupon and never book again.

A first-visit offer is a cost, and the second visit is where it pays back. The account is judged on how many new clients rebook, not on how many redeemed the offer.

Half our stylists rent their chairs, so whose client is it?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 80 percent of barbers and 48 percent of hairdressers, hairstylists and cosmetologists are self-employed. The ad needs a rule for who gets the booking before it runs, and the booking link has to match it.

Our lash and color calendar is full in summer and empty in January.

Balayage near me runs from about 9,900 searches a month in the winter to 18,100 in the summer. The budget follows the service and the season, not one flat number.

How clients search

The near me searches are huge and cheap, because the map answers them

Keyword Planner shows the shape of it. The general searches run into the millions and cost under three dollars, because Google answers them with the map pack. A salon wins those with a complete profile, current photos and a steady stream of reviews.

The service searches are smaller and carry a bigger ticket. Lashes near me is a high-competition search at up to $4.18 a click, because the appointment is worth it.

Google Keyword Planner, United States, English, read 8 October 2026. Each row is one synonym group, so the rows are not added together. Balayage near me averages about 12,100 a month, from 9,900 in November to January to 18,100 in June and August.

The trade

Most barbers work for themselves, and that changes the account

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 670,800 jobs for barbers, hairstylists and cosmetologists in 2025, with a median pay of $35,880 a year. Of those, 75,800 are barbers, 80 percent of them self-employed, and 595,000 are hairdressers, hairstylists and cosmetologists, 48 percent self-employed. Manicurists and pedicurists add 201,800 jobs, 23 percent self-employed.

That is why a salon account starts with a rule, not a keyword. If a stylist rents the chair, the ad either books into the salon's calendar and the salon's rotation, or it books the stylist directly and the owner knows which. Without the rule, the account pays for clients nobody agrees belong to the shop.

The measure

A new client is paid for on the second visit, so that is what we count

No published figure tells us your rebooking rate or what a client spends in a year, so this page does not print one. What we can say is how the account is measured: the first visit is the cost, and the rebooked second visit is the return.

One campaign per service

Color, extensions, lashes, braids and barbering each get their own ad, page and budget.

The booking link as the conversion

The ad lands on a booking page for that service, and a completed booking is what we count.

Rebooking tracked from your system

New clients who book again within the cycle, reported by service, so the budget moves to the ones that stay.

The profile kept current

Photos of your own work, every service listed, and reviews asked for from every client.

The channels, side by side

Where a salon gets new clients, and what each channel really sells

No published figure tells us what a new salon client costs, so this table does not print one. It shows who each channel reaches and where it falls down.

What we checked

Where the facts on this page come from

Search volumes, monthly figures and bid ranges are from Google Keyword Planner for the United States, read 8 October 2026. Jobs, pay and self-employment shares are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook pages for barbers, hairstylists and cosmetologists and for manicurists and pedicurists, read 8 October 2026. Category and badge wording is from Google's Local Services Ads list, read the same day.

What this page does not claim

No salon cost per new client, rebooking rate or client lifetime value, because none is published in a source we can verify. No account count for salons. Your own service prices and rebooking cycle set what a new client is worth.

Campaign structure

The eight salon lines, each searched in its own words

A men's cut, a full balayage and a set of lash extensions are three different tickets and three different clients. Each service below gets its own campaign, its own page and its own budget, so the cheapest click never decides where the money goes.

Color and balayage

Balayage near me runs from about 9,900 searches a month in winter to 18,100 in summer.

Extensions

A high ticket, a long appointment and a client who returns for maintenance.

Lash extensions and fills

Lashes near me is searched about 110,000 times a month at high competition, $1.03 to $4.18 a click.

Braiding

Hair braiding near me is searched about 90,500 times a month. A long appointment with a clear price.

Men's cuts and barbering

Barber near me runs about 1,000,000 searches a month. Decided on the map, so the ad sells the shop's specialty.

Nails and pedicures

Nail salon near me is searched about 3,350,000 times a month, peaking at 4,090,000 in May.

Bridal and event styling

Booked months ahead and booked for a group. Its own page, its own price range.

New client offers

The first visit priced to win the second. Measured on rebooking, not on the coupon.

Hair Salon, Barber Shop and Nail Salon are Local Services Ads categories, with no badge

Google's US Local Services Ads list, read on 8 October 2026, carries Hair Salon, Barber Shop and Nail Salon, along with Eyelash Salon, Eyebrow Salon, Hair Braiding and Textured Hairstyle Service and Hair Extension Technician. The same page says, word for word, "The Google Verified badge is currently unavailable for verticals in the auto, beauty, and dining categories." A salon listing there is carried by its reviews and its profile. Read from Google's own category list.

Straight answers

Questions we get asked

Is a hair salon a Google Local Services Ads category?

Yes. Google's US Local Services Ads list, read on 8 October 2026, carries Hair Salon, Barber Shop, Nail Salon, Eyelash Salon, Eyebrow Salon, Hair Braiding and Textured Hairstyle Service and Hair Extension Technician. The same page says the Google Verified badge is currently unavailable for the beauty category.

Should a salon pay for ads on hair salon near me?

Usually not much. Hair salon near me is searched about 1,500,000 times a month at $0.55 to $2.85, and the map decides it by distance and reviews. The ad budget goes further on specific services such as balayage, extensions, lashes and braids.

How many barbers are self-employed?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 80 percent of barbers were self-employed, against 48 percent of hairdressers, hairstylists and cosmetologists and 23 percent of manicurists and pedicurists, with 75,800, 595,000 and 201,800 jobs respectively in 2025.

How do you measure a salon account?

On bookings and on rebooking. The first visit is the cost of finding a client, and the rebooked second visit is where it pays back. We count completed bookings from the ad and report new clients who book again, by service.

Do lash and color searches change by season?

Some do. Balayage near me runs from about 9,900 searches a month in November to January to about 18,100 in June and August, from Keyword Planner read on 8 October 2026. Nail salon near me peaks at about 4,090,000 in May.

Do you work with a single-chair barber or a small salon?

Yes, with no contract. A shop with a clear service menu and online booking is the simplest version of this account.

How much does a salon marketing agency cost?

Blue Grid Media charges from $695 a month for Google Ads, $445 for Local Services Ads management and $995 for both, month to month with no setup fee. The Google Ads fee follows your monthly ad spend: $695 up to $3,000, $995 from $3,000 to $8,000 and $1,495 from $8,000 to $20,000. In our study of 62 contractor marketing agencies, only 22 published a price at all.

What should I look for in a salon or barbershop marketing agency?

A published price, month to month terms, the ad account in your name, ads built around the services you want more of, and reports that show how many new clients rebooked. An agency reporting redeemed coupons is reporting a cost.

Is Google Ads worth it for a hair salon?

For specific services with a ticket, such as balayage, extensions, lashes and braids, it can be. For haircut near me, usually not, because the map decides it by distance and reviews at under three dollars a click.

When should a salon switch agencies?

When you cannot see your own account, when results are counted in coupons, when nobody asks who gets the client if a stylist rents the chair, or when a contract stops you leaving.

Is Blue Grid Media a Google Partner?

Yes. Blue Grid Media is a Google Partner. Each account manager handles 20 accounts at most, so your account gets looked at every week rather than once a quarter.

Can we work with you in Spanish?

Yes. Julian, who runs Blue Grid Media, works with clients in Spanish from the first call through onboarding, support and the monthly report, and writes Spanish ad copy himself rather than running it through a translator.

How long does Local Services Ads setup take?

Google says the screening process takes three to four weeks on average after you submit your documents. Google Ads can run while it completes, so the account does not sit idle.

What does it cost?

We charge $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google directly to you and we never take a percentage of it. Campaign landing pages are included.

Who owns the ad account?

You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.

Exclusive leads

Exclusive salon leads, because you own the account they come from

We do not sell salon leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.

A shared lead from a lead seller

  • Sold to three or four salons and barbershops at once
  • You are racing two competitors to call first
  • Priced per lead, so volume is their incentive
  • Stops the day you stop paying, with nothing left behind
  • No account, no history, no keyword data that is yours

An exclusive lead from your own account

  • Yours only. Never sold on, never shared
  • The client called you, not a directory
  • Flat management fee, so nobody profits from more spend
  • The account, history and landing pages stay with you
  • Search terms reviewed weekly, and the waste taken out

Exclusive salon leads, by market

We provide exclusive salon leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by the neighbourhoods your clients live in rather than where we sit.

WestExclusive salon leads in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City
Do you provide exclusive salon leads in New York?
Yes. We run exclusive salon lead campaigns in New York, including Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens, and in more than 45 other United States metros. The leads are exclusive because they come from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in your name, so they are never resold and never shared with another salon.
Which cities do you run exclusive salon lead campaigns in?
We run exclusive salon lead campaigns in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and across roughly 50 metros nationwide. Campaigns are managed remotely, so coverage is set by the neighbourhoods your clients live in rather than where we are based. Smaller and rural markets are covered too, and the auction there is usually cheaper than any major metro.
Are your salon leads shared with other companies?
No. We are not a lead seller. A shared lead is sold to three or four salons and barbershops at once, which is why you end up racing competitors to call first. We build and run the ad account in your name instead, so every call and form belongs to you alone, and the account, history and landing pages stay with you if we ever part ways.
Do you work with salons and barbershops with several locations?
Yes. For salons and barbershops with 2 to 9 locations we run one campaign set and one Local Services Ads profile per location, so locations in the same metro stop bidding against each other, with every account in the owner's name, at $599 a location a month. At 10 locations it is $499 a location and at 20 accounts $350 each, month to month with no setup fee. Our multi-location page shows how the locations are structured.

Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run salon accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.

Multi-location and franchise

Salons and barbershops with several locations, or a franchise

Blue Grid Media runs Google Ads and Local Services Ads for salons and barbershops with several locations, including franchise groups, with service campaigns per salon, with one campaign set and one Local Services Ads profile per location, every account in the owner's name, at $599 a location a month for 2 to 9 locations, $499 at 10 and $350 an account at 20, month to month.

One ad per auction

Google lists showing more than one ad for your business in a single ad location as a prohibited practice. Locations in the same metro are given markets instead of bidding against each other for the same salon search.

Licences per location

Google asks a business serving several locations for business and employee level licences for each one, and where locations serve the same area it shows only the highest ranking ad. Each location gets its own profile, drawn to its own area.

Measured by location

A tracking number per location and booked work imported per location, so the budget moves each month to the locations with capacity and the best cost per booked job.

Franchise territories

For a franchise, location targets are copied from the territory list in the agreement, brand searches run once from the fund, and each lead goes to the owner of the territory it came from.

2 to 9 locations$599per location, per month
10 locations$499per location, per month
20 accounts$350per account, per month

A single location stays on $445 for Local Services Ads, $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. Across the team's career we have managed franchise groups of 20 to 36 locations and 250+ contractor accounts. The account shapes are on our multi-location page, and franchise systems have their own page.

Websites and landing pages

A page per service, with your own work on it

A client searching balayage wants to see your balayage, a price range and a booking button. A page per service with your own photos books the appointment the generic home page never would.

Fast and mobile first

Most local searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.

Call and form tracking wired in

Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.

Local SEO and schema

On-page SEO and local schema markup so the site earns map and organic visibility over time instead of only working while the ads are switched on.
