The short version

Parents search the subject and the grade. Most tutoring ads say help with homework.

The Nation's Report Card puts 40 percent of fourth graders below the NAEP Basic level in reading, and 45 percent of twelfth graders below Basic in math, the highest share ever recorded. Parents do not search for tutoring in general. They search for a reading tutor for a second grader or SAT prep for a junior, and they search most in September. The account that works is built by subject and by grade.

Sound familiar?

What tutoring owners tell us before we see the account

Independent tutors and center owners describe the same four problems. Most of them come from an account that treats every family as the same buyer.

We bid on tutoring near me and the calls are all over the place.

Tutoring is searched 110,000 times a month, but parents who are ready to book search a subject and a grade. A reading campaign and a math campaign, each with its own page, filter the call before it happens.

September is chaos and June is silent.

That is the search curve. Tutor near me ran from 40,500 in September to 14,800 in July. The budget should follow it, and the summer campaign should sell something summer parents want.

Parents book two sessions and disappear.

A research summary on the Institute of Education Sciences site says tutoring is most effective at three or more sessions a week. Sell the package that works, and say why on the page.

The big learning chains outspend us on every search.

They buy the broad terms. The specific ones, like dyslexia tutoring or organic chemistry tutoring, are smaller, cheaper and searched by parents who want a specialist.

The need

The need is different in every grade, and the ad should be too

The National Assessment Governing Board reported in January 2025 that 'around 40 percent of 4th graders are working below the NAEP Basic level in reading, the largest percentage since 2002', and that about a third of eighth graders fail to reach Basic in reading, the largest share ever. In math, 24 percent of fourth graders scored below Basic, five points worse than in 2019.

The oldest students fare worst in math. In September 2025 the board reported that 45 percent of twelfth graders scored below NAEP Basic in math, 'the highest percentage ever', and 32 percent below Basic in reading. Reading is the elementary parent's worry. Math is the high school parent's. One ad cannot speak to both.

How parents search

Parents search the subject, the grade and the test

Keyword Planner shows the broad words are the cheapest. The specific ones cost more per click because the families searching them are closer to booking. SAT tutoring near me draws bids up to $44, and Spanish tutors up to $42.

That is the structure. A campaign per subject and grade band, each landing on a page that names the grades, the tutors' training and the weekly schedule. The broad term stays as a floor, not as the account.

The school year

September is the busiest month, and the summer needs a different offer

Tutor near me peaked at 40,500 searches in September and October 2025 and fell to 14,800 in July 2026. Math tutors near me followed the same shape, 33,100 in September against 12,100 in July. The first report card and the first failed test drive the search.

Two lines run against the curve. Tutoring services spiked to 33,100 in March, around spring testing, and to 27,100 in July, when parents plan for the next year. The account spends hardest from late August to October, keeps a test-season campaign in spring, and sells summer catch-up as its own offer.

What we checked

Where the facts on this page come from

Reading and math results are from the National Assessment Governing Board releases of 29 January 2025 and 9 September 2025 and from nationsreportcard.gov. The finding on session frequency is from a 2021 Institute of Education Sciences blog summarising Nickow and colleagues (2020); it describes tutoring held at school during school hours, so read it as guidance rather than a promise for a private session. Google's US Local Services Ads list carries Tutor as a national category, read 6 October 2026. The seven categories restricted to California and Florida are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio.

What this page does not claim

No tutoring cost per lead, enrollment rate, retention rate or lifetime value, because none is published in a source we can verify. No exact eighth grade figure, because only the words about a third are confirmed. No account count for tutoring.

Campaign structure

The eight tutoring lines, each searched in its own words

A parent of a fourth grader who cannot read at grade level, a high school junior facing the SAT and a college student stuck in organic chemistry are three different buyers. Each subject and grade band below gets its own campaign and its own page.

Elementary reading

NAEP puts 40 percent of fourth graders below Basic in reading. Parents search reading tutor near me, at high competition.

Elementary and middle school math

Math tutor and math tutors near me are each searched 22,200 to 27,100 times a month, peaking in September and October.

High school math

NAEP reports 45 percent of twelfth graders below Basic in math, the highest ever. Searched by course, like algebra or calculus.

SAT and ACT prep

SAT tutoring near me carries some of the highest bids we pulled, up to $44 a click. A short season around each test date.

College science

Organic chemistry tutoring alone is searched 18,100 times a month. A small, specific campaign for a willing payer.

Dyslexia and learning differences

Searched 5,400 times a month as dyslexia tutoring. The page must say who on staff is trained for it.

Languages

Spanish tutors draw bids up to $42. Searched by adults as often as by parents.

Online sessions

Online tutoring is its own search with its own audience, and it removes the radius limit a center has.

Before you sign anything

Three things worth walking away from

One campaign called tutoring

The reading parent, the SAT parent and the college student search different words in different months. One campaign buys the cheapest of them.

A plan that spends the same every month

Searches run from 40,500 in September to 14,800 in July. The budget belongs where the families are.

Results counted in inquiries

An inquiry is not a student. Count first sessions booked and families still enrolled after a month.

Tutor is a national Local Services Ads category

Google lists Tutor among its US Local Services Ads categories, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click and sit above the map pack. Google says the Google Verified badge applies to select verticals only, so we do not promise one for this category until your own account shows it. Read from Google's own category list on 6 October 2026.

These are the terms tutoring owners use when they look for marketing help, from Google Keyword Planner for the United States. Most of it is one group of advertising searches, and almost nobody is searching for an agency, which is why so few pages like this one exist.

Straight answers

Questions we get asked

Is tutoring a Google Local Services Ads category?

Yes. Google lists Tutor among its US Local Services Ads categories, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. We read the list on 6 October 2026. Google says the Verified badge is offered for select verticals only, so the listing leans on your reviews and profile.

When do parents search for tutors?

Most in September and October. Keyword Planner shows tutor near me at 40,500 searches in September 2025 against 14,800 in July 2026. Tutoring services also spiked in March and July, around testing and summer planning.

What subjects are parents most worried about?

It depends on the grade. NAEP reports 40 percent of fourth graders below Basic in reading, and 45 percent of twelfth graders below Basic in math, the highest share ever recorded. Reading leads in elementary school, math in high school.

How many sessions a week should we sell?

A 2021 Institute of Education Sciences summary of the research says tutoring is most effective in three or more sessions a week of at least 30 minutes, with trained tutors. It describes school-day programs, so treat it as guidance for your own package.

Should we list on tutoring marketplaces?

Many tutors do, and it fills a calendar. The family belongs to the platform and the platform takes a share of every session. Search ads in your own account bring families who book with you directly.

Do you work with an independent tutor?

Yes, with no contract. A single tutor with one subject is the simplest version of this account, because the campaign and the page can be exactly as specific as the teaching.

What does it cost?

We charge $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google directly to you and we never take a percentage of it. Campaign landing pages are included.

Who owns the ad account?

You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.

Exclusive leads

Exclusive tutoring leads, because you own the account they come from

We do not sell tutoring leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.

A shared lead from a lead seller

  • Sold to three or four tutoring businesses at once
  • You are racing two competitors to call first
  • Priced per lead, so volume is their incentive
  • Stops the day you stop paying, with nothing left behind
  • No account, no history, no keyword data that is yours

An exclusive lead from your own account

  • Yours only. Never sold on, never shared
  • The family called you, not a directory
  • Flat management fee, so nobody profits from more spend
  • The account, history and landing pages stay with you
  • Search terms reviewed weekly, and the waste taken out

We provide exclusive tutoring leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by the neighbourhoods your families live in rather than where we sit.

Do you provide exclusive tutoring leads in New York?
Yes. We run exclusive tutoring lead campaigns in New York, including Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens, and in more than 45 other United States metros. The leads are exclusive because they come from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in your name, so they are never resold and never shared with another tutoring business.
Which cities do you run exclusive tutoring lead campaigns in?
We run exclusive tutoring lead campaigns in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and across roughly 50 metros nationwide. Campaigns are managed remotely, so coverage is set by the neighbourhoods your families live in rather than where we are based. Smaller and rural markets are covered too, and the auction there is usually cheaper than any major metro.
Are your tutoring leads shared with other companies?
No. We are not a lead seller. A shared lead is sold to three or four tutoring businesses at once, which is why you end up racing competitors to call first. We build and run the ad account in your name instead, so every call and form belongs to you alone, and the account, history and landing pages stay with you if we ever part ways.

Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run tutoring accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.

Websites and landing pages

The page that names the grade, the subject and the schedule

A parent wants to know whether you teach their child's grade and subject, who the tutors are and how many sessions a week you recommend. A page per subject and grade band that answers that books the first session.

Fast and mobile first

Most local searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.

Call and form tracking wired in

Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.

Local SEO and schema

On-page SEO and local schema markup so the site earns map and organic visibility over time instead of only working while the ads are switched on.
