The short version

Nobody hires carpentry. They hire the built-in, the trim and the door.

Keyword Planner shows carpentry searched about 165,000 times a month, and most of it is people reading about the trade, not hiring one. The homeowner ready to pay names the job: built in bookcases, crown molding installation, a finish carpenter near me. The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 889,700 carpenters, a quarter of them self-employed. Google lists Carpenters as a Local Services Ads category, and the account that works is built on the finished job.

Sound familiar?

What carpenters tell us before we see the account

Finish carpenters and small carpentry companies describe the same four problems. Each one comes from an account built on the name of the trade.

Our carpentry ads bring people asking how to become a carpenter.

The word carpentry is mostly searched by students, hobbyists and job seekers. Even the owner-side term carpentry leads shares a bucket with the job title lead carpenter. The account bids on the jobs homeowners name, and the career words go on the negative list.

We get handyman calls for a $90 fix.

Carpenter handyman is its own search. If you do not want the small work, the ad says what you build and the minimum you take, and the page shows finished projects.

Every one-man crew in town is bidding against us.

BLS reports that 25 percent of carpenters are self-employed. The generic search is crowded. The specific ones, built-ins, stair railings, wainscoting, are where your portfolio wins.

Trim work comes in waves and we never know when.

Crown molding installation cost was searched 18,100 times in February 2026 and 2,400 in August. The wave has a calendar, and the budget can follow it.

The trade

889,700 carpenters, and a quarter of them work for themselves

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 889,700 carpenter jobs in 2025, at a median pay of $60,580 a year, with employment projected to grow 4 percent from 2025 to 2035. Self-employed workers are the largest group at 25 percent, followed by residential building construction at 23 percent and building finishing contractors at 13 percent.

BLS also separates the work. Carpenters install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding, and they construct and install building frameworks, including walls, floors and doorframes. Finish work and framing are different jobs, searched by different people, and they belong in different campaigns.

How homeowners search

Homeowners search the finished job, not the trade

Keyword Planner shows the trade's own name is the largest search and the least useful one. The searches below are smaller, and every one of them names a job a homeowner would pay for. The high competition on built-ins says contractors already know they are worth buying.

So the account runs a campaign per job, each landing on a page of that kind of work, with your service area and how to book an estimate. Carpentry on its own stays out of the account, along with courses, careers, tools and plans.

The season

Trim projects are priced in winter and booked in spring

Crown molding installation cost rose from 4,400 searches in December 2025 to 18,100 in February 2026, held at 14,800 in March, then fell to 2,400 by August. Homeowners price indoor projects while they are indoors.

Carpenter near me is steadier, running between 12,100 and 18,100 a month all year. The account keeps a steady campaign for the general search and spends hardest on trim and built-ins from January to April, when those homeowners are pricing the work.

What we checked

Where the facts on this page come from

Job count, pay, outlook, employer shares and the duties wording are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook page for carpenters, read 6 October 2026. The lead paint note is from EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting program, which requires firms doing renovation that disturbs lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes to be EPA or state certified. Google's US Local Services Ads list carries Carpenters as a national category, and the seven categories restricted to California and Florida are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. Our handyman page covers the small-job side.

What this page does not claim

No carpentry cost per lead, project value or close rate, because none is published in a source we can verify. BLS publishes no separate counts for finish and framing carpenters, and its pay figure excludes self-employed workers. No account count for carpentry.

Campaign structure

The eight carpentry lines, each searched by the finished job

Crown molding in a dining room, a wall of built-in bookcases and a rotted door frame are three different jobs searched three different ways. Each line below gets its own campaign, its own page and its own photos of work like it.

Trim and crown molding

Crown molding installation cost peaks from January to April. Searched by homeowners pricing a room.

Built-ins and bookcases

Built in bookcases is searched 14,800 times a month at high competition. Sold on photos of finished work.

Custom shelving and cabinets

Built in cabinets and built in shelving together run near 10,000 a month. A higher ticket than trim, and a longer decision.

Doors and hardware

Interior doors hung, adjusted and trimmed. Often the job that starts a bigger trim project.

Stairs and railings

Treads, balusters and handrails. Searched less, priced higher, and worth a page of its own.

Wainscoting and paneling

A design job sold on examples. The page shows the styles you build.

Window and door casing repair

Rot and damage around openings. In a pre-1978 home, EPA's lead rule applies when painted trim is disturbed.

Framing repair

Searched as framing carpenter, about 2,400 a month. BLS lists framing as distinct work from finish carpentry.

Before you sign anything

Three things worth walking away from

An account built on the word carpentry

Most of that search is people learning the trade. The jobs homeowners name are where the money is.

No negatives for careers, courses and tools

Carpenter jobs, apprenticeships and tool reviews will take the budget if nobody excludes them on day one.

Stock photos instead of your work

Built-ins and trim are sold on what you have built. A page without your own photos asks the homeowner to trust a stranger.

Carpenters is a national Local Services Ads category

Google lists Carpenters among its US Local Services Ads categories, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click and sit above the map pack. Google says the Google Verified badge applies to select verticals only, so we do not promise one for this category until your own account shows it. Read from Google's own category list on 6 October 2026.

What carpenters search for when they want more work

These are the terms carpentry owners use when they look for marketing help, from Google Keyword Planner for the United States. The largest one is shared with a job title, lead carpenter, so even the trade's own marketing searches need reading carefully.

Around 300 searches a month, from Keyword Planner on 5 October 2026, and much of it is noise: carpentry leads shares its 210 bucket with lead carpenter, a job title. Straight answers

Questions we get asked

Is carpentry a Google Local Services Ads category?

Yes. Google lists Carpenters among its US Local Services Ads categories, and it is not one of the seven restricted to California and Florida, which are architect, drain expert, home insulation, insurance agency, interior designer, piercing studio and tattoo studio. We read the list on 6 October 2026. Google says the Verified badge is offered for select verticals only, so reviews and the profile carry the listing.

Should a carpenter bid on the word carpentry?

No. Keyword Planner shows carpentry at about 165,000 searches a month, and most of it is people reading about the trade. Carpenter near me, built in bookcases and crown molding installation are smaller and searched by homeowners ready to hire.

When do homeowners plan trim and built-in projects?

In winter and early spring. Crown molding installation cost was searched 18,100 times in February 2026 against 2,400 in August, from Keyword Planner.

Do we need lead paint certification for trim work?

If the work disturbs lead-based paint in a home built before 1978, EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule requires the firm to be EPA or state certified and to use certified renovators. Saying you are certified is a reason to choose you on older homes.

How is a carpenter different from a handyman in the account?

By the jobs and the minimum. A carpentry account bids on built-ins, trim, stairs and framing repair and states the size of work it takes. Our handyman page covers the many-small-jobs model.

Do you work with a one-person carpentry business?

Yes, with no contract. A solo finish carpenter is the clearest case for building the account on the two or three jobs you want more of.

What does it cost?

We charge $445 a month for Local Services Ads management, from $695 for Google Ads and $995 for both. No setup fee, no contract, month to month. Ad spend is billed by Google directly to you and we never take a percentage of it. Campaign landing pages are included.

Who owns the ad account?

You do. We open it in your name and it stays there, along with the landing pages, the call tracking numbers and the conversion history. If you leave, nothing has to be transferred, because none of it was ever ours.

Exclusive leads

Exclusive carpentry leads, because you own the account they come from

We do not sell carpentry leads and we do not resell them. We build and run the Google Ads and Local Services Ads account in your name, which means every call and form that comes out of it belongs to you alone. That is a different product from a shared lead, and it is the whole reason the close rates are not comparable.

A shared lead from a lead seller

  • Sold to three or four carpentry companies at once
  • You are racing two competitors to call first
  • Priced per lead, so volume is their incentive
  • Stops the day you stop paying, with nothing left behind
  • No account, no history, no keyword data that is yours

An exclusive lead from your own account

  • Yours only. Never sold on, never shared
  • The homeowner called you, not a directory
  • Flat management fee, so nobody profits from more spend
  • The account, history and landing pages stay with you
  • Local Services Ads disputes filed weekly on your behalf

Exclusive carpentry leads, by market

We provide exclusive carpentry leads in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and in roughly 50 United States metros in total. Campaigns are managed remotely, so the market is set by where your crews work rather than where we sit.

WestExclusive carpentry leads in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City
Do you provide exclusive carpentry leads in New York?
Yes. We run exclusive carpentry lead campaigns in New York, including Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens, and in more than 45 other United States metros. The leads are exclusive because they come from a Google Ads and Local Services Ads account held in your name, so they are never resold and never shared with another carpentry company.
Which cities do you run exclusive carpentry lead campaigns in?
We run exclusive carpentry lead campaigns in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix, and across roughly 50 metros nationwide. Campaigns are managed remotely, so coverage is set by where your crews actually work rather than where we are based. Smaller and rural markets are covered too, and the auction there is usually cheaper than any major metro.
Are your carpentry leads shared with other companies?
No. We are not a lead seller. A shared lead is sold to three or four carpentry companies at once, which is why you end up racing competitors to call first. We build and run the ad account in your name instead, so every call and form belongs to you alone, and the account, history and landing pages stay with you if we ever part ways.

Not on the list does not mean not covered. We run carpentry accounts nationwide across the United States, including smaller and rural markets where the auction is usually cheaper than any metro above.

Websites and landing pages

The page that shows the work you want more of

A homeowner searching built in bookcases wants to see bookcases you built, your area and how estimates work. A page per job with your own photos books the estimate the generic carpentry page never would.

Fast and mobile first

Most local searches happen on a phone, so the page is built to load fast there. Faster pages convert more of the clicks you have already paid for.

Call and form tracking wired in

Every call and form is connected to tracking from day one, so you can see which ads and which pages actually produce booked work rather than just traffic.

Local SEO and schema

On-page SEO and local schema markup so the site earns map and organic visibility over time instead of only working while the ads are switched on.
